That happened in 1960 in Korea, but I remember a Marine friend of mine telling me that they had it in 1958 You guys who are big collectors of these rifles would know better than myself. Strange as it may seem in Nam I would have prefered the M1 to the M16 we had at the time A square 10 19K 4 veteran member A square 10 19K 4 Dec 02, 2009 6 2009-12-02T15:35 i need to swap out my handguard and put this in its military stock for a photo session, i do love this rifle - its one of my favorite and about as accurate as my LR308 Your Signature. What I was looking for was, what is the year of manufacture of these two rifles: Serial number 455631 My notes say this was a TRW rifle, but the charts above say it should be HR. ![]() This is the rifle I had as permanent party at Fort Leonard Wood. Serial number 1292424 TRW This was the rifle I had at BCT at Fort Ord. A square 10 19K 4 veteran member A square 10 19K 4 Dec 04, 2009 8 2009-12-04T03:27 TRW delivered 96,976 in 1963, and 217,613 in 1964, and 200 in 1965, TRW orders were placed 100,000 in 1961, and 219,163 in 1964, unfortunately my referance book does not offer any more data than this, it does imply that they fell just short of the order in each case, but the assigned serial ranges would accomadate what was made and shipped, sorry i cant be more helpfull, i seldom assume any referance has ALL the facts correct - we just go with what we have Your Signature.
